AIC was established in April 2015 as a SAU (Strategic Academic Unit) for developing technology management (MOT) education and research in Asia, which is a strength and characteristic of Yamaguchi University. AIC is engaged in the following activities as an engine to promote the globalization of Yamaguchi University.

Three types of cross-border PBL (Project Based Learning) teaching materials: a short-term global MOT human resource development program for adults, a short-term global engineer development program for science and engineering graduate students, and a global mobility program for general students. We are developing and implementing those programs every year while improving them. We have also developed an internship program for international students and organized internships every year.

As a base for MOT research in Asia, we have established international collaboration courses at priority collaborating universities and are building a network of MOT research throughout Asia. Currently, we have two laboratories at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Institut Teknologi Bandung. Taking advantage of the strengths of Yamaguchi University and its affiliated universities, distinctive MOT research is being carried out where Universiti Teknologi Malaysia focusing on "intellectual property (IP)" and Institut Teknologi Bandung focusing on "innovation in emerging countries"。

We have established AMC as a platform for disseminating MOT education in Asia, and are promoting the development of a standard curriculum for MOT education in Asia and establishing credit transfer system between universities.

The Asian MOT Education Symposium (ISAME) is held annually in Yamaguchi Prefecture and in the local communities of overseas affiliated universities as a place for disseminating and enlightening MOT education in Asia and discovering issues
